The Tulsan wanted to give their women’s restroom a complete visual update, and this project became another opportunity to transform a space through color and artwork.
One of the things I enjoy most about working with The Tulsan is the creative freedom they give me. They usually come to me with a few ideas or references to help establish a direction, then give me room to interpret those ideas and run with them. That kind of trust makes the creative process a lot of fun.
We took the same approach with this mural. Starting with a few ideas from their team, I developed a design filled with colorful flowers, patterns, and shapes that would completely change the feeling of the room.
As the mural began covering the walls, it was cool to see just how much of a difference the colors and patterns made. What had been a fairly ordinary restroom started becoming an experience of its own.
At around 450 square feet, the artwork surrounded the space and gave it an entirely different energy. This project was a good reminder that murals do not always need a massive exterior wall to make an impact. Sometimes transforming a smaller, unexpected space can make just as much of a difference.
