This piece was a fun one to add to the portfolio because it leaned fully into a darker, more gothic atmosphere.
The composition featured Tulsa in the background using a western inspired type style, creating a backdrop that grounded the piece in place while still giving it a dramatic feel.
In the foreground, I painted a nun with her hands extended outward.
Most of the piece stayed in black and white, which gave it a more serious and moody tone. Against that grayscale setting, I added VNICE in bold red metalcore inspired lettering, making it the one element that immediately cuts through everything else.
That contrast was really the heart of the piece.
The black and white gave the mural a quiet, almost sacred feeling, while the red lettering brought in something louder, sharper, and more aggressive. The two sides played off each other in a way that felt balanced.
I also included a shout out to some of the homies, which gave the piece another personal layer and tied it back to the people and culture surrounding it.
This was one of those murals that was less about a long concept explanation and more about mood, style, and presence.
Sometimes a piece just needs to feel strong.
This one definitely did.
